A message from our president

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Charlotte Black Nurses Association. Black Nurses here in Charlotte have a strong and proud history with everlasting ties to the community.  We invite you to explore the site to learn about the services that we offer to our Membership. As an example, for only a $75.00 a year Membership fee, you can take all of your required Continuing Education.

 I look forward to working with our members, community and corporate partners, friends and future members as we improve the opportunities, education, stature and impact for nurses and future nurses in the Charlotte area.  Because of our members’ commitment to excellence, we will become the premier Chapter for black nurses in this country. We all will be proud of the many accomplishments and the positive changes we will make for our members and the Charlotte area community we serve.

I am excited to think about the new possibilities in 2011. We have wonderful stories of success to be proud of, and we persevered through a struggling economy. A lot has occurred during these historic times to improve the health of our communities. The Charlotte Black Nurses Association and the National Black Nurses Association supports full implementation of the Affordable Care Act passed in the 111th Congress. It is without question, the strongest action to ensure health care for all Americans.

We are actively engaged in the many issues currently challenging the profession of Nursing. There is no better time than now that Minority Nurses need to work together in their professional associations, and to prosper in this time of change for the reform of our Health Care System.

Let's not forget our future and mentor a student or new nurse. They are the next generation of nursing leaders and will carry our legacy for years to come. Let’s take every opportunity that we can to show our students and new nurses that we care about their professional and self development. This year, I am serving as mentor to students, younger nurses and mature nurses. This is the only way we can truly say we are cultivating the next generation of nursing leaders.
It’s going to be great year for CBNA!

About Us

The Charlotte Black Nurse Association is born out of a desire by Black Nurses to establish an organization, to which Black Nurses could, in an atmosphere of comradeship and sisterhood, implement strategies to effect change in the delivery of health care to minorities and provide a vehicle by which Black Nurses could improve their competence. We want to provide a forum for collective action by nurses to investigate, define and advocate for the health care needs of African Americans and other minorities. To implement strategies that ensure access to health care equal to, or above health care standards of the larger society.
